We’re excited to announce an opening for a clinical pharmacist specializing in infectious diseases, with a focus on managing outpatient antimicrobial therapy (OPAT), HIV, Hepatitis C and ensuring access to high-cost medications.

 

About the Role:

As a Clinical Pharmacist with our team, you’ll play a critical role in managing OPAT patients, ensuring access to complex and high-cost medications. In addition to managing antimicrobials, your focus will be on patients with HIV and Hepatitis C, where your expertise will ensure optimal medication access, adherence, and overall patient care.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Manage OPAT Patients: Oversee and coordinate outpatient antimicrobial therapy for patients, ensuring effective and safe treatment regimens.

Medication Access: Navigate and secure high-cost medications, working closely with patients, providers and Carilion Clinic Specialty Pharmacy to ensure medication availability and adherence.

Specialized Focus: Provide expert care and management for patients with HIV and Hepatitis C, including monitoring and adjusting treatment plans as needed.

Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Work alongside physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and treatment plans.

Patient Education: Educate patients on medication use, potential side effects, and adherence strategies to improve health outcomes.

 

Qualifications:

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or equivalent.

Completion of a residency with a focus in infectious diseases or relevant clinical experience.

Strong knowledge of HIV and Hepatitis C treatments and management.

Experience with outpatient antimicrobial therapy and high-cost medication access.

Excellent communication and patient interaction skills.
