Position Summary

The ECU Health Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy Program Coordinator is a clinical leadership position in infectious diseases ambulatory and home care practice. The individual will work with an interdisciplinary team to provide clinical management and oversight for outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) services across the ECU Health System, which includes all system hospitals, provider clinics, infusion centers and home health services.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with OPAT Medical Director as administrative dyad to define, develop, measure, evaluate and optimize key program performance metrics.

Work closely with physicians, nurses, and pharmacists across the continuum of care to ensure safe, timely, and effective OPAT treatment and monitoring.

Support transitions of care services from acute care to home infusion or skilled nursing facilities.

Develop and apply medication use policies.

Lead quality improvement projects for OPAT services.
Manage OPAT therapy under drug therapy management agreements with Infectious Diseases attending physicians. This includes prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting dosages as need to optimize therapy, which may include credentialing as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner.

Support the development of ambulatory antimicrobial stewardship services.

Participate in research activities.

Serve as a preceptor for student pharmacists and pharmacy residents of ASHP accredited PGY-1 and PGY-2 residency programs.

Minimum Requirements

PharmD degree from accredited school of pharmacy is required.

PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residency training is required. Greater than 5 years of relevant progressive clinical and leadership experience may be considered as substitution for residency training.

North Carolina Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner (CPP) credential to be obtained within one year of hire.

Preferred Requirements

PGY2 Infectious Diseases residency training with OPAT and home infusion experience is preferred.
