The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (CPS) position is within the Acute Care Clinical Pharmacy Team and focused on Antimicrobial Stewardship Pharmacy/Infectious Diseases (ASP/ID) at an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate within a well-established interdisciplinary team focused on optimizing antimicrobial use and managing infectious complications in oncology and immunocompromised patients. As an expansion of our current ASP/ID Pharmacist team, this new role will provide opportunities for the team to provide additional pharmaceutical expertise to patients within an inpatient surgical setting at the Moffitt McKinley Hospital (MMH) focusing on surgical patients, outpatient Nontuberculous Mycobacterium (NTM) Clinic, Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) clinics, and others.  Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced clinical pharmacy services in infectious diseases, including consultative support for complex infections in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, cellular therapy, and/or surgical interventions – including investigational therapies.
  • Round with Infectious Disease physicians, medical learners ranging from medical student to ID Fellow, and advanced practice providers.
  • Actively contribute to and lead antimicrobial stewardship activities including prospective audit and feedback, antimicrobial restriction processes, and guideline-driven interventions.
  • Participate in infection prevention efforts, institutional guideline and policy development, resistance surveillance, and outcomes tracking.
  • Serve as a key liaison to the Infectious Diseases medical service, Infection Prevention team, and Microbiology Laboratory.
  • Precept APPE Pharmacy Students, PGY1 Pharmacy Residents, PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residents as part of our ASHP-accredited Residency Program. Additional precepting opportunities within local PGY2 Infectious Disease Pharmacy Residencies and USF’s Infectious Diseases Medical Fellowship may be available.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary clinical committees focused on quality, safety, and guideline development.
