The UPMC Pharmacy Fellowship Program (PAFP) focused in antimicrobial stewardship at UPMC Presbyterian is an integrated, 24‑month fellowship designed to develop future leaders of antimicorbial stewardship through a rotation‑based structure and dedicated scope of responsibility within the UPMC Health System. The program is designed to provide practical, real-world experiences in antimicrobial stewardship and leadership to develop skills and behaviors to prepare pharmacists to assume leadership roles in antimicrobial stewardship pharmacy practice.
The first year of the program focuses on longitudinal training within the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, complemented by rotation experiences across a variety of infectious diseases consult services. In the second year, fellows transition into leading projects while continuing their longitudinal stewardship experiences, with additional elective time available to pursue individual clinical or professional interests.
